I have been marketing online now for about six months, and started using Aweber right from the start, from a recommendation. I never really understood it that much, just did as I was told to do and got it set up with my emails. So I just ’set it and forget it’! Which is ideal because it did exactly what I wanted it to do.
Eventually I found that I could send out messages whenever I wanted, in addition to my regular letters. I began to send out a weekly ‘broadcast’ telling my list about my weekly webinars. After that, just a short while ago, I discovered that Aweber had started doing opt-in forms! That was very timely for me, because I had lots of difficulties with opt-on forms, particularly that mine were never that sexy! So I logged in and found lots of options, very customisable and very easy to put onto any of your pages! Excellent.
So realising I was missing a trick of two with Aweber, I decided today to dig a bit deeper. And I found lots more stuff! For a start they have a newsletter you can opt-in to with lots of helpful hints and tips to get more from your autoresponder. When you opt-in for the newsletter, you get an interesting download about email deliverability, which gives you lots of great tips on this important subject.
An excellent tip they gave was that you should always do a plain text email as well as an html one. I have always thought that it wasn’t worth doing a plain one as well. Aweber helped me see this differently. Doing a plain version shows that you are not a spammer, as spammers tend not to bother with a plain text version. And because alot of people now read their emails on their mobiles, they may not be able to read a message if their device does not support html! Therefore cutting down the number of people who may have otherwise read your email! Well I will definitely be doing a plain version from now on!
Aweber also do something else I didn’t know about but now plan to use! We have all heard of RSS feeds, but like many people I don’t know much about them. (My next article topic quite probably!!) Well apparently I am not alone, 97% of people do not know how to subscribe to RSS feeds! Amazing! What Aweber do then, is to do a ‘blog broadcast’ of your RSS feed to all your opt-ins!
What they do is everytime you post a new article on your blog, they take this from the RSS feed and turn it into an email for you. You set it up in Aweber (start under messages), choose your template and Aweber do the rest. You can set it up to send on certain days, or whenever you want. You can also review the broadcasts before they are sent if you want to. Incredible!
Aweber are also on Twitter, so you can follow them @Aweber. Follow them, you can offen pick up more tips from them, and they are always monitoring when people talk about Aweber so they can help anyone who is having problems. Twitter is great for business!
Also, they do regular webinars to help with everything from basic set up to doing opt-in forms, great for those of us who are not technically minded and often need help.
So there you are, Aweber is so much more than an Autoresponder!! Dig a little deeper you guys!
